The Biggest Win (So Far)

I was recently on the Friendly Golf podcast — great chat about Neighborhood National, our start, how we work, and a some actual golf talk too.
Then they hit me with a question that stopped me cold:
“What’s been the biggest win so far?”
I didn’t freeze from a lack of wins. We’ve had plenty.
I froze because it’s not one big moment — it’s the same small one, over and over, that means the most.
And when they asked me, I'd just experienced it again the week before.
The Real Win
It’d been a really hard week — solo founder life is emotional. Raw maybe a better word.
Highs too high, lows too low. That week was a low. A grind.
By Friday, I was wiped.
I was in No. 1, our first spot — no longer the crummy shed we started in, I like to think it's still got the same soul.
I was cleaning. Someone tried to come in, noticed me there, and left.
I opened the door to see what was up, and found a box of brand-new FootJoys on the ground.
At the end of the driveway, a member turned, saw me, and said:
“You look like a 9.5,” as he walked to his car.
Rough week. I needed new golf shoes. And yeah — I really am a 9.5.
That moment, like so many others, reminded me what this is.
What It Is
The biggest win isn't a number of clubs or members.
It's not any one instance.
It’s the ongoing proof I’m not building this alone.
I had the idea. I laid the groundwork. I push it forward.
But the real magic? It’s owned by our neighbors — our Members and Club Pros.
Some might call their acts generosity — I see pride. Belief.
Not just in what we’re doing, but how we’re doing it.
Willingness to carry the mission with me — sometimes ahead of me.
That day, it was a kind act from a good neighbor, timed just right, and clearly with our neighborhood in mind.
Feel Like a Neighborhood You’d Like to Move Into?
I’d love to talk.
